Vasley Nathaniel Jackson was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica on
May 11, 1934, to Emmeline Brown-Jackson and Israel Jackson, Sr. In 1982, he migrated to the United States of America where he currently resides.
Vasley Jackson is a man of great faith who has dedicated his life to service helping and touching the lives of many people. Mr. Jackson has always been incredibly supportive and a mentor to many, including the youth in Jamaica and the United States of America (U.S.A). Since migrating to the U.S.A, Mr. Jackson participated in many community service events, most of which helped the community members of Brooklyn, New York. Some of the events include, but is not limited to food pantry distributions, clothing drives, help your neighbor initiatives,
back-to-school events and much more. Vasley Jackson is known to be a dependable person that was frequently called upon to help in various ways, which included fixing or repairing electronic devices, building of structures, being a caretaker and much more. Mr. Jackson is a man of many trades. Prior to retiring, he worked in the field of masonry and construction. He was also a professional barber. Throughout his life
Mr. Jackson mentored and trained countless youth and adults in various skills that helped to encourage their interest in obtaining their education and follow their dreams and passion, which would positively impact their future. He is a man of great faith with a regular expression of encouragement, “In God we trust”. Mr. Jackson’s expression meant to him, “that no matter what you have, or may currently be facing in life, just put your trust in the Lord Jesus and he will see you through.”
As a Philanthropist, Vasley Jackson loved and enjoyed donating his time and actions to help people, youth, and his community. In honor of
Mr. Jackson’s commitment to service, he was commended and recognized by community members and leaders, Trinity Baptist Church of Brooklyn (where he serves as a Deacon), and other community organizations. In 2024, Mr. Jackson received the United States of America Lifetime Achievement Presidential Award for Volunteer Service.
Vasley Jackson had an understanding and compassion for anyone who desired to work in the field of masonry and construction, which he enjoyed doing. He believed that there were innumerable benefits to anyone who possessed a trade, especially when certified or licensed in a desired trade. In support of Mr. Jackson’s passion and to continue his legacy of helping youth and adult students, “The Vasley N. Jackson Scholarship, Inc.” was established to provide support and assistance to students pursuing their education in any technical trade certification program or trade school. This will enable students to obtain relevant skills necessary in pursuit of their desired occupation and goals.
Vasley Jackson is ninety (90) years old, and currently resides with his granddaughter Kim, her husband Dwayne and their two children Joshua and Victory Moulton in Monroe, New York. Mr. Jackson is not physically capable of being as active as he once was, but he remains highly regarded and respected for his passion, love, and commitment to serving the youth and communities within the United States of America and abroad.
